A year ago, you walked through the door and it was finally yours.
Happy first home anniversary! I hope when you look around today, you see more than the home you purchased a year ago. I hope you see the little changes you’ve made, the places you’ve settled into, and some wonderful memories that weren’t there when you first got the keys.
A first anniversary is worth celebrating. It’s also a nice reminder to give a little care back to the home that’s been taking care of you. If you haven’t checked these things recently, here are a few to keep in mind:
- Have your heating and cooling systems serviced as recommended
- Clean the dryer vent and check the exterior vent opening
- Inspect and test the sprinkler or irrigation system, if applicable
- Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and maintain or replace batteries according to manufacturer instructions
- Check windows and doors for leaks, damaged caulking, or worn weatherstripping
- Have wood-burning fireplaces and chimneys inspected and cleaned as appropriate
I remember being part of the process that brought you to this home, and I’m still grateful you trusted me with such an important moment in your life. Closing may have ended the transaction, but it certainly didn’t end my willingness to be here for you.
